I’m Charlie Waddell, and I`ve served as your Councilman for the past four years. I am seeking reelection on May 4th, 2010.
As your Councilman for these last four years I've helped turn Herndon around. It's easy to forget that in 2006 we were overwhelmed with an overcrowding problem that was drastically affecting our neighborhoods, our home values, and our quality of life.
We were also faced with a serious lack of discipline with Herndon's finances, with our resources being committed to frivolous wants and not essential needs.
I am proud of what we have accomplished in these last few years, but there is also much more to be done.
We will maintain the same high quality of Town services while continuing to keep the real estate tax rate near the current rate – last year over 90% of our property owners paid the same or less in real estate taxes as they did in the previous year.
We will fund needed capital improvement projects using the current economic downturn as an opportunity to maximize purchasing power.
I have provided the change you wanted four years ago and will continue to be your voice for responsive and responsible government.
I campaigned with the promise I would listen to you, the citizens. I have kept that promise, and will continue to do so.
Please take a few moments to view this website. Hopefully, by spending some time here, you`ll be afforded the opportunity to get to know me better. And, hopefully, you`ll have a better understanding of what I`ve being doing to make our community a better place. Finally, I hope to share with you some my goals for continuing to improve the quality of life in Herndon.
